Microsoft's SmartGlass May Be New Gold Mine

Posted: 10 Jun 2012 03:28 AM PDT

By Ry Frank:

Microsoft (MSFT) is not just a software company anymore, and for the last seven years Microsoft has developed a premier growth tool with regards to its Xbox 360. Year-over-year increases in sales, services and support of Microsoft's Xbox has allowed Microsoft to push the envelope with new innovative technologies and strategies that will allow for the convergence of the smartphone, personal computer and television into a robust package of convenient services. Xbox SmartGlass technology could be a real game changer for Microsoft in its battle for the consumer's leisure time. Xbox SmartGlass is expected to be officially unveiled in the autumn of 2012 and is expected to give rivals Apple (AAPL), Sony (SNE) and Google (GOOG) a run for their money.

Microsoft's SmartGlass technology will be able to merge smartphones, tablets and personal computers with televisions, and Microsoft's Xbox will be the brains of the operation. Some analysts

Austerity Backlash To Reverse Euro Gains

Posted: 10 Jun 2012 02:35 AM PDT

By Tim Clayton:

Following the Spanish bailout, Euro short covering and risk appetite relief is likely to dominate early in the week with a the US dollar weakening sharply. Even if improved risk conditions can be sustained, and it's a big if, the Euro has little chance of a sustained recovery and remains a huge sell on rallies. The decision to give Spain preferential treatment will fuel further resentment within the three countries already in receipt of rescue funds and increase political protests against austerity packages. There will, therefore, be strong pressure for the EU to sustain momentum and move more aggressively towards fiscal union, but this timetable is likely to be on a much longer-term scale and not satisfy market demands.

With a dismal growth outlook and even greater pressure on a narrowing funding base, underlying resentment surrounding Euro-zone policies is likely to intensify at both ends of the spectrum after the

WWDC iOS 6 Rumors: What To Expect, Reject, And Hope For

Posted: 10 Jun 2012 02:27 AM PDT

By TechCrunch:

By Jordan Crook

It's WWDC time. Like, tomorrow. And we expect to see plenty of fun announcements, not least of which being a brand new mobile operating system, iOS 6.

It's the type of Apple product every iPhone owner can enjoy, and I'm more than pumped to bring you a full list of expected, rumored, and wishlist features that we'll soon enjoy.

So how does a silver user interface sound as opposed to blue? What about a departure from Google Maps and a brand new 3D map view brought to you direct from Apple? How about Facebook integration as deep as (if not deeper than) Apple's beloved Twitter?

Position And FX Technical Outlook: More Correction Ahead

Posted: 10 Jun 2012 02:25 AM PDT

By Marc Chandler:

The latest CFTC Commitment of Traders report covers the week ending June 5. We assume that the report's coverage of speculative positioning is representative of short-term trend followers and momentum players. There were several noteworthy developments among speculative participants in the futures market.

The highlights include:

  • New record short euro position
  • A switch from net short to net long yen
  • A switch from net long to net short sterling
  • New record short Australian dollar position

The general technical outlook appears constructive. We continue to expect additional position adjustments ahead of the Greek elections (and French elections) on June 17 and do not think the broad outlines of Spain's deal with the EU will stand in the way, even though we suspect officials are being true to form and underestimating the magnitude of the challenge. This will mean mostly a weaker dollar, except against the yen, as cross positions are also

Dividend Introduction Could Propel New Gold Shares

Posted: 10 Jun 2012 01:58 AM PDT

By Yiannis Mostrous:

Gold investments remain the best long-term hedge against the volatility now wracking world markets. The case for gold is strong: The euro zone crisis continues to unfold, while US and European economies struggle.

Gold stock prices now offer good entry points; my favorite remains Canada-based miner New Gold (NGD). The company announced that it produced 99,274 ounces of gold in the first quarter of 2012, roughly equal to production in fourth-quarter 2011. Net cash costs averaged $543/oz, a marginal improvement from $553/oz in fourth-quarter 2011. The company forecasts between 405,000 and 445,000 ounces of gold production this year, with net cash costs averaging between $410-430/oz.

In late April, the Chilean Supreme Court suspended the environmental permit for the El Morro project that New Gold is developing with Goldcorp (GG). The ruling came in response to an action filed against the Chilean governmental permitting authority, Servicio de Evaluacion Ambiental (SEA), by

A Sensitive Subject

Posted: 10 Jun 2012 01:10 AM PDT

Some may fry me for this but I am going to lay it out there anyway.

What would be a good away of going about this? I have several pm locations. I figure while you increase your chance of a loss you almost eliminate the chance of a complete meltdown (loss of all pms). I've got a sdb (ducks rotten tomato), and two manual locations.

So here goes. My wife knows of one location and the sdb but not the other. Not that she wouldn't find it in the case of my demise. But I am thinking of adding another location that she probably wouldn't know about. (although I've explained the sensitivity of this subject she is a yakker and has made some unnecessary comments in the company of others). She loves to divulge things to people and I worry more about what she has said when I am not there. We've had some times of marital issues especially concerning her spending significant amounts of money via bank account protection schemes where you if you spend money you don't have the bank will 'loan' you the money at an exorbitant rate of interest. She has done this numerous times and I have had to go in and clean up the mess. Suffice to say she can really spend other peoples money well.

If she knows of other value she will spend it in absentia. To protect myself and my family I would like to have a secret stash (onsite). The problem is I don't want to be one of those old codgers who die has has secret hoards no one knows about, only to be discovered by the next owners of the house or something.

What would be a good way of keeping the secret until death?

Worldwide Package Coming From Fed, ECB & IMF

Posted: 10 Jun 2012 12:17 AM PDT

from kingworldnews.com:

On the heels of Spain asking for $125 billion to bail out their collapsing banking system, today Egon von Greyerz told King World News, "There will be a massive worldwide package coming out between the Fed, the ECB, the IMF and other central banks." Egon von Greyerz is founder and managing partner at Matterhorn Asset Management out of Switzerland. Von Greyerz also said the money printing is "imminent." Here is what Greyerz had to say about the unfolding crisis: "As I see things, we are on the road to perdition. Eric, there is no exit strategy for the world (to get) out of these problems. There is no solution. If you look at what happened in 2008, people thought that was bad, but what's going to happen, starting this year and in the next few years, will make 2008 look like a small rehearsal because the real collapse is going to start now."

Egon von Greyerz continues:
"We're seeing every week, one domino after the next that is falling. So far they are only smaller dominos such as banks, smaller countries, etc.. No (major) country has fallen, but that will come. Every single economic figure is looking worse. World trade is declining — Chinese exports of steel were down 14% last month, US exports to the eurozone were down 5% last month and that is likely to increase to minus 20% if not more.

The decline of world trade means the start of a depression….
